Microsoft Is Aligning Releases of Windows and Office Feature Updates

With the Windows 10 Creators Update already live, Microsoft also rolled out Redstone 3 build 16179, with the upcoming Windows 10 feature update expected to arrive late 2017.The PC release is the latest Redstone preview and is available to Windows Insiders on the Fast Ring. For PC users, there are two very important new features bundled into build 16179. It is called Revert VM and it allows developers using Hyper-V on Windows 10 to have automatic checkpoints. Microsoft says this introduction allows customer to be able to undo mistakes in virtual machines. This can be achieved by simply reverting to the last checkpoint made in the VM. With Power Throttling, Microsoft is launching a feature that can help preserve battery on a PC. Power Throttling can reduce CPU consumption by up to 11%. After previously beating its browser rivals in tests, Microsoft Edge has once again showed it is the best browser for battery life. The latest test shows Edge beats Chrome and Firefox running Windows 10 Creators Update. Microsoft freely admits that it was a risk to develop a new web browser from scratch. However, Microsoft Edge is coming along nicely, even if it is still behind main rival Google Chrome. One area where Edge has consistently been superior is in battery life. Microsoft Event Announced for May 2: New Surface and Windows Cloud Coming?

Microsoft has announced it is holding a hardware and software event in New York City on May 2. This spring event has been rumoured for several weeks, with speculation around what devices Microsoft will discuss. The company is now sending out press invites for via email for the event. Report suggest that the event is not going to unveil any new products like the Surface Phone or a new Surface Pro device. The hardware and software event will get underway 9:30AM ET on May 2nd. The invite leads with “Learn what’s next” which offers a subtle hint that the event will put a focus on education. Windows Cloud will probably lead the charge in terms of software, but what about the hardware. We’re still expecting Microsoft to unveil at least one piece of new hardware, but it’s not likely to have a successor to the Surface Book ready just yet. Microsoft Officially Launches the Windows 10 Creators Update

For the past one month we got to see the review of Window 10 Creators Update.And now the company have officially launch the Window 10 update after fixing some bugs reported by developer reviews.  Microsoft sent out the Creators Update to the Xbox One last month. PC users who wanted to clean install the OS themselves have been able to do so since last week. However, most Windows 10 users will be getting their update automatically. Today is the first time that can happen. As with the Anniversary Update last August, Microsoft is rolling out the Creators Update in stages. This basically means the upgrade will be sent out over the next weeks to three months. In other words, some users may be lucky enough to get it today, while others will have to wait. Microsoft Skype UWP for Windows 10 Gets Important Update

Skype UWP is now out of preview for all Windows 10 users with the launch of version 11.13.133.This is a release for all Windows 10 users on Mobile and PC, it is not a Windows Insider build. The biggest change made to Skype UWP in build 11.13.133 is a new contacts system. Microsoft says it has simplified the way users connect with their contacts. Now Skype will show mutual contacts shared within the People app on a device. It is possible to turn this setting off within the app. Another change is the addition of searchable chats within the Messaging app. My including keyboard shortcuts, Skype UWP users now get easier choices more quickly. Extending the Messaging features, the app now also allows the sending of SMS messages with “a little Skype Credit.” Microsoft had been testing Skype Preview since the early months in 2016.
