Following in the heels of Reliance Jio-Fiber Airtel launched V-Fiber Broadband service in India starting with Chennai on Thursday.
The V-Fiber service - which offers speeds up to 100Mbps - will be rolled out the 87 other cities in India that have Airtel's broadband service in the coming weeks, starting with Delhi & NCR and Bengaluru.Airtel also announced unlimited free voice call in to all broadband customer which was only restricted to some plans.The customer can make free calls to any networks across India.
The company notes the processing of upgrading to the V-Fiber network will not require it to dig up roads or re-wire, instead, it will boosts the last mile copper connectivity by using 'noise elimination technology' it is referring to as Vectorization. It adds that local exchanges have been upgraded to handle the fibre speeds. To avail the faster V-Fiber broadband service, existing broadband users will require a new modem.
Airtel says monthly rental plans will not increase alongside the increase in speed. Whereas the customer have to buy new modem(price not disclosed).The modem charges will be fully refunded if the customer is not satisfied with the service within the first month, the company says. New customers get an 'unlimited three months trial offer'.
Both existing and new customer can avail the new service by pre booking or order through Airtel dedicated site
