Apple launches iPhone8, iPhone 8Plus & iPhone X

Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced the launch of iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Apple Watch Series 3 and the 4K Apple TV at a event in Cupertino, California.  The iPhone X has face recognition technology and the iPhone 8, 8 Plus have better cameras.

After months of rumours and leaks, Apple finally launched the iPhone X marking its 10th anniversary iPhones as well as some major updates in Apple Watch and Apple TV. Apple also revealed two upgraded versions of the previous iPhones, namely iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus look the same as their predecessors only instead of a glass front and aluminum sides and back, the new phones come with a glass front and with a series 7000 aluminum frame in between. Apple boasts that the glass is the most durable in any smartphone. It looks a lot like the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The iPhone 8 still has a single camera while the 8 Plus has a double camera. The two sensors on the back of the iPhone 8 Plus are f1.8 and f2.8 apertures and it is brighter than the iPhone 7 Plus.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will come with the newer A11 Bionic chip, which consists of six cores -- four low-efficiency and two high-performance. There’s a new retina HD display. It has true tone technology like the most recent iPad Pro. It adapts to ambient light. Speakers are 25 percent louder and have deeper bass. You still get 3D Touch, Cinema Wide Color Gamut and True Tone. The two phones are still water resistant as well.Color-wise the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus come in Silver, Space Gray and a new Gold - no Jet Black.

However, the key focus will be on the iPhone X, an all new premium smartphone from the technology giant. It is probably the company’s biggest launch in years. The iPhone X is  a gorgeous all-glass design with a beautiful 5.8-inch Super Retina display, A11 Bionic chip, wireless charging and an improved rear camera with dual optical image stabilization. iPhone X delivers an innovative and secure new way for customers to unlock, authenticate and pay using Face ID, enabled by the new TrueDepth camera.

iPhone X introduces a revolutionary design with a stunning all-screen display that precisely follows the curve of the device, clear to the elegantly rounded corners. The all-glass front and back feature the most durable glass ever in a smartphone in silver or space gray, while a highly polished, surgical-grade stainless steel band seamlessly wraps around and reinforces iPhone X. A seven-layer color process allows for precise color hues and opacity on the glass finish, and a reflective optical layer enhances the rich colors, making the design as elegant as it is durable, while maintaining water and dust resistance.

The beautiful 5.8-inch Super Retina display2 is the first OLED panel that rises to the standards of iPhone, with stunning colors, true blacks, a million-to-one contrast ratio and wide color support with the best system-wide color management in a smartphone. The HDR display supports Dolby Vision and HDR10, which together make photo and video content look even more amazing. The addition of True Tone dynamically adjusts the white balance of the display to match the surrounding light for a more natural, paper-like viewing experience.

iOS 11 is redesigned to take full advantage of the Super Retina display and replaces the Home button with fast and fluid gestures, allowing customers to naturally and intuitively navigate iPhone X. As far as cameras are concerned, the iPhone X is about as locked and loaded as one can get. The rear camera features a 12-megapixel sensor, with dual-lenses at f1.8 and f2.4 apertures (which is brighter than the 7 Plus telephoto). It comes with dual-image OIS quad-LED TrueTone flash.

The iPhone X, as well as the other new iPhones announced today, comes with wireless charging capabilities. The iPhone X is packed with the new A11 Bionic processor: 64-bit design, six cores, two high-performance processors that are 25 percent faster than the A10 and four high-efficiency cores (two more than the A10) that are 70 percent faster. The GPU is 30 percent faster.

The iPhone X starts at $999 for the 64GB model, with a larger 256GB option.
Pre-orders begin on October 27 and regular sales begin November 3. The iPhone 8 price in the US, the 64GB and 256GB variants of the smaller model will be $699 and $849, respectively, and the iPhone 8 Plus will cost $799 and $949 for the 64GB and 256GB variants.
