Google Maps will give you a rough idea of how crowded a specific place for example a mall, restaurant or park is at that particular moment. The feature works by crowd-sourcing anonymized location data from other Google users and also uses Google searches to analyze how busy a location is at any given moment. The feature was already present on the Web and was introduced on Android last year. With the update, you can also quickly access addresses in your clipboard while searching. You can fill in the search bar with an address copied from an email or other app.
Meanwhile, Google Maps for Android users in the US have officially started receiving parking difficulty icon that will give you a heads up about the parking scene about a place you are planning to visit.
Google Maps has reportedly started showing parking availability for some users, according to Android Police. The parking availability will be displayed with a small rounded ‘P’ icon right next to the travel duration within the app.
Currently in testing phase, the feature has three levels Limited, Medium, and Easy. The P icon will turn red if the is Limited parking availability while it will remain blue otherwise. According to the report, the parking availability shows up for public destinations like malls and airports and various attractions. The update is currently available to limited people on the Maps v9.44 beta version and is not known if it will be rolled out globally.
In 2014, Google had added parking card for Google Now that automatically detected where you have parked your car and help you find that spot later.
